UnitingCare Lithgow was established in 1986 to bear host family respite care for children and young people who have a disability and their carers. Since then the service has grown in line with community needs and now provides a wide range of day programs and overnight respite to school aged children and adults who have a disability, people who are flimsy aged and primary carers in Lithgow and Bathurst. We aim to be a leader in providing tall quality, efficient services with person centered planning to enable and enhance the lives of people who have a disability or who are fragile aged and their carers. Our speakers will talk to you about issues affecting young people living with disability, such as personal self worth, feeling good about yourself, living independently, transitions, moving forward, sport and recreation, relationships and sexuality, employment, managing your support, inclusive education, travel and much more! 2014 is shaping up to be a year stuffed of exciting programming options for the clients who access our services. We are asking for feedback on a new disability law to be introduced in Parliament next year (2014). It’s important to have your say in the way disability law governs disability services and rights in MSW. The reasons for change and objectives of the fresh law At the moment the Disability Services Act 1993 is the main legal foundation in MSW for providing supports and services to people with disability. Recognising the correct of people with disability to be in handle of their lives and to make or be involved in decisions that affect them. Ensuring people with disability can participate fully in the community. Due to demand, surplus sessions were held and nearly 600 people attended. Individual needs are discussed with carers and clients and a comprehensive care plan developed. The Community Participation Program offered by UnitingCare Lithgow aims to maintain and develop life skills and enlarge independence of adults with a disability upon leaving school. It also aims to expand friendships and encourage networks and encourage making the transition from school to mature life. The program offers a expansive range of activities including day and evening activities, community access and living skills. The emphasis of this program is on community based life skills and leisure activities to promote the independence and integration of adults with a disability into the community. The emphasis of this program is on community based recreation and leisure activities with community integration and participation skills a priority. The Life Choices and Energetic Aging Programs are funded by ADC to provide contemporary day programs to urge adults with a disability based on a person centered approach. They donate options for service users to enhance their quality of life through meaningful activities include participation in community life. Uniting Protection Lithgow give many opportunities for Carers of people with a disability, persons with a disability or people who are fragile aged to access various respite and social urge services. The concern is rehearsed with the family to suit the needs of the persons involved and can include in home respite, social support, center based day programs for adults and school aged children with a disability, community based programs or concise term over evening respite in our respite cottage. This can occur in their home or as segment of community access and integration. This program is designed to aid those people who have a disability or are flimsy aged and their carers who may need assistance from our suited staff to participate in their community. Respite care for school aged children with a disability including pastime and leisure activities, life skills and community access.
